G32

Gee Three Two: Constant Threading Cycle

G32 Commands the machine to cut a variety of threads however it is not used as much as the more common G76

Syntax:

G32 This will be updated and added once the G76 cycle has been published as it will make a lot more sense.

G32 Is A Modal Command

Description

G32 is unusual in that it can be used to perform a number of different threading cycles. What the actual command does is locks the main spindle in reference to the axis so that each pass happens directly inline with the previous pass. While it may sound basic (like why the hell do we need that when we have G76?) well, it also allows Multistart threads, Transverse Threads (co-axial threads) Tapered Threads and many others that aren’t widely used (my personal pet hate, Square Threads) even Variable Pitch Threads (yea, FML I want a holiday, threads). Each pass can be varied for both position AND depth compared to G76.

Very useful if you need it but for now lets worry about the one’s you are most likely to use as a newbie. On some machines the same can be achieved with G33 (Yes, Gaz, like the DSG you were working on).
